The Factory on Oahu's North Shore is Hawaii's premier glassing operation. Our laminators and sanders are the most experienced craftsmen that Hawaii has to offer, with over thirty years experience in every aspect of surfboard manufacturing. We only use the finest materials available, Silmar UV resin and Hexcel fiberglass.
If you have seen pictures of the worlds top pro surfers charging Pipe, Sunset, Rocky Point or Waimea chances are those boards were built in our factory. Hawaii's most experienced shapers know the importance of exceptional glass job, that's why we have built boards for Ben Aipa, Carl Schaper, Jay Hodge, Tommy Tanaka, Al Merrick, Wade and Kerry Tokoro, Jeff Bushmann and Glenn Minami. You will find boards built by The Factory in Local Motion and other fine surf shops. |

The Factory also does fabric inlays. Hawaiian prints are very popular but any design can be used as long as the fabric is thin and the ink does not bleed. The whole board can be covered or only a partial area. The Factory prefers to put pin lines on all fabric inlays. Pin lines can be done in black ink or color resin. If you choose to have a fabric inlay we highly recommend gloss polish.

The Factory's standard
glass job is two layers on the top and one layer on
the bottom. Extra layers can be added at $1.00 per foot.
The Factory uses Hexcel E Glass in 4oz, 6oz, 7.5oz silene
and volan. We also carry Hexcel S-Cloth in 4oz and 6oz.
The S-Cloth provides exceptional overall strength. Most
of the big guns and pro Pipe boards get S-Cloth. If
you are breaking boards you might want to consider paying
a little extra for S-Cloth.The Factory uses Silmar UV
resin, which cures 100% in just 5 minutes. This gives
the customer a board that is rock hard and ready to
ride. Tradition chemically catalized resins required
a three week wait to get a 95% cure. If you like epoxy
boards The Factory also offers a lamination with Aluzine.
The Factory offers three finishes. First, our “pro sand” is sanded to 320 grit and is preferred by all the top pros for it’s crisp feel. Second, is our standard, which is called the “show room finish” which is a very shinny sand finish, excellent for stores or just making your board stand out in a crowd. Finally, The Factory’s gloss polish work is unmatched. If you have ordered a board that you consider art work, this is the finish you want.
Our stock boards are not production pop outs. They are limited in supply and the boards change daily. If you can’t find exactly what you want, then order a custom board. Custom boards take longer, but to an avid surfer, custom is the only way to go.
The accessories available in our store have been hand picked after rigorous testing by pro surfers and us personally. FCS, Future, Gorilla Grip, OAM and Creatures of Leisure have all stood up to North Shore abuse. We carry all of their products so if you can’t find it in our store just let us know and we will get it for you. |
